course provides a detailed understanding and application of
new or emerging classification/compensation concepts in the
public sector. It is designed to familiarize human resources
and compensation practitioners, or anyone with the
responsibility of implementing or supporting new
compensation programs within their organization, with
the “what’s”
and “why’s” of the new strategies and decision-making
considerations.

This one-day applied
knowledge course is designed to present approaches to the
design and implementation of performance-based pay
systems and performance management. The course takes a
comprehensive look at design and application issues and
considerations.

The Instructor: Bruce Lawson,
IPMA-CP
Bruce Lawson is a Partner in
the firm of Fox Lawson & Associates. Prior to joining Fox
Lawson, Bruce spent 15 years with the firm of Ernst &
Young LLP. He has a Master's degree in Public Administration
from California
State University at Fullerton and a Ph.D. (a.b.d.) in Public
Administration from Golden
Gate University in San
Francisco. His consulting experience
includes work in job evaluation and compensation, organization
analysis, executive search, personnel systems and policy
development.
Mr. Lawson is an active member of several
professional associations including the American Compensation
Association and also serves on the adjunct faculty in the
Graduate School of Arizona State University where he teaches
courses in personnel management and labor relations. He
currently is serving on the City of Phoenix (AZ) Public Safety
Retirement Board. He also has served as a member of four
National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and
Administration (NASPAA) Peer Review Committee Site Evaluation
Teams. He is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) by
the American Compensation
Association.
